1 - Homosexual Marriage: Y means that the Representative voted to let Washington voters decide (by referendum) if our state should prohibit same-sex "marriages" and refuse to legally recognize homosexual "marriages" legalized elsewhere.
2 - Abortion: Y means the Representative voted to prevent taxpayer funded abortions.

4H - Property Rights (House): Y means the Representative voted to require fair market value compensation when the government takes property.
5H - Welfare Reform (House): Y indicates that the Representative voted to require the able-bodied to work, limit eligibility to two years (42 month lifetime), require unwed teen mothers to live with responsible adult and other measures to ease people out of dependency.

State Senate

4S - Property Rights (Senate): N means the Senator voted to prevent government from having to pay fair market value compensation when it takes property.
5S - Welfare Reform (Senate): N means the Senator voted against the following substantial reform of government's role in welfare. "There is no entitlement to public assistance. Public assistance shall be considered solely as a charitable gesture or gift on the part of the state, which at any time may be discontinued."
6 -Tax Increase: N means the Senator voted to increase taxes in Washington by $668 million over two years. May 1993
7 - Hate Crimes Against Homosexuals: Y means the Senator voted to stop the creation of a special category of crimes for tracking bias against homosexuals. April 1993
8 - Performance Based Education (a.k.a. OBE): Y means the Senator voted to stop Outcome Based Education instructional methods and objectives from replacing the prevailing Washington State educational methods. April 1993
Note: Issues 4 & 5 are the same issues for Representatives and Senators but different bills, amendments, etc. were examined.
