Same-sex issue diverting other states

To the Editor:

In the Jan. 12 Advertiser story "Lawmakers seek quick action on same-sex issue," Capitol Bureau reporters William Kresnak and Angela Miller note: "Lawmakers believe they suffered a voter backlash in September's Primary Election and November's General Election because of their failure to resolve these issues during last year's session."

It is also possible that they are feeling pressure from legislators and citizens on the Mainland who have not appreciated being forced to neglect important matters in their own states in order to react to the homosexual wedding march coming at them from Hawaii.

In Washington, we have no choice but to take time out to pass legislation barring same-sex marriage before legal manipulations by out-of-state homosexual special interests finesse our state into recognition of same-sex matrimony.

How sad and undemocratic that a small but well-financed group of politically sophisticated activists--identifiable only by claimed sexual behaviors—came so close to bullying an entire nation into submitting to their forced redefinition of the institution of marriage.
