The Seattle Times
To the Editor:
Editors at the Times are right to fret over intolerance (Legislating intolerance, The Seattle Times, Feb. 15). But their concern is
misdirected and disingenuous.
Senator Val Steven's SB 5167 seeks to correct an ongoing tyrannical situation in Washington's public school system.
Institutionalized intolerance toward students and parents who prize traditional values is nowhere more evident than in
school-sponsored presentations of homosexuality.
Activists following the National Education Association script are attempting to convince students that homosexuality should be
considered the legal, cultural and public health equivalent of heterosexual marriage. Those who disagree - or parents who
disagree - learn that they suffer from "homophobia," and must learn to think differently if they do not want to be "bigots."
I have spoken with students, parents and school district patrons from around the state who have witnessed such
pro-homosexual indoctrination, whether in classrooms or other taxpayer-financed settings. I am an eyewitness to such a
presentation. While in Washington D.C., I and parents from around the United States gave these testimonies to the House
Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigation which was holding hearings on the misuse of tax-dollars for pro-homosexual
public school presentations.
If editors of a major newspaper are willing to help defend and disguise homosexual advocacy in our school system, then
Senator Val Steven's bill is an even more urgent necessity.
Sincerely:
