GAYS DIE YOUNG
An example from our own legislature
March 5, 1997
The Tacoma News Tribune
To the Editor:
In his March 3 Letter, "Claims about AIDS deaths misleading and inaccurate," Allen Bagwell derides those who have
observed that, on average, homosexual males have a lifespan of about 42 years. Aside from the fact that articles are appearing
in publications such as the New England Journal of Medicine regarding the declining ages of those infected with HIV in the
U.S., conservatives have no need to rely on "scare tactic propaganda literature" as Bagwell accuses.
Openly homosexual Washington State Senator Cal Anderson recently died, in his early 40's, of AIDS. Is society expected to
cover its eyes and pretend that the tragic, untimely end of his brilliant career was merely coincidental, and has the political
correctness of "diversity" become so tyrannical and intolerant that people must restrain their own memories?
In a book advocating open homosexuality in the military titled "My Country, My Right To Serve" by MaryAnn Humphrey,
Anderson bragged about his many sexual conquests (his terminology in the book) while serving in Vietnam. Are citizens
required to pretend that such behaviors are not contributing to the deaths of homosexuals at young ages?
According to sources at the University of California, San Francisco, "Accumulating research shows alarmingly high HIV
prevalence rates among young gay men and high rates of sexual risk taking, suggesting that young gay men in their 20's are
forging a "second wave" of the AIDS epidemic."
The truth is that in our state, citizens are expected to meekly allow a special interest - which can only be distinguished by
claimed sexual conduct - to demand government recognition and favoritism at taxpayer expense. Ironically, it appears that the
many successes of the homosexual political agenda may actually be contributing to a lower lifespan for homosexual males.
Recent action in the Legislature indicates that, hopefully, the Department of Social and Health Services will soon be out of the
business of recruiting adult homosexuals to counsel minor children in the state's custody.
