WTV Defends Marriage on Seattle TV Programs
with State Representative Bill Thompson
Opposing Lesbian and Homosexual Couples "Incensed."

Tuesday, February 18th, in Seattle, Washington for Traditional Values Executive Director Bob Larimer debated the Protection of Marriage Act aided by the chief sponsor in the Washington House, State Representative Bill Thompson. Their opponents at the taping of the television program "True Colors" were two same-sex "couples:" one lesbian couple and one male homosexual couple.

Bob has done yeoman's duty the past four years, criss-crossing the state and nation - either physically or electronically - to bring cool headed reasoning to this ongoing cultural confrontation.

Bob's Account

The taping went well, I believe. Bill Thompson gave a good account of himself and didn't get sidetracked by "religious" issues, as moderators attempted to do. He pointed out that one lesbian testifying in Olympia was excited about 170 benefits should same-sex "marriage" be recognized by the state. He said child custody considerations could become nightmarish, given several new definitions of "married" couples.

I pointed out that Representative Thompson's bill was not an "anti-gay marriage bill." I said that it was a pro-traditional values bill which seeks to defend the institution of marriage and 300 years of a traditional understanding of the formal union between a man and a woman. I also pointed out that you can not ban something that does not exist . . . and no such thing as homosexual "marriage" exists.

I showed how it is unreasonable to expect citizens to put their hands over their eyes and ignore biological reality, since the human species has two distinct, but complementary, genders. I outlined how the combination of the two genders in a male/female relationship is the basic, beginning family unit, and is the glue that holds a society together, motivating a culture to improve and prepare for future generations.

Regarding "discrimination" in matters matrimonial, I reminded viewers that a favorite argument of homosexual people is that, "since we're born this way and can't help who we are, we should be allowed to marry like people who are born heterosexual." I pointed out that both homosexual "couples" on the program boast of having children at home, and that this required heterosexual behavior at one time. If the homosexual "couples" were genetically locked into homosexuality, then they could never have had children.

Both couples [or rather, the two males] were incensed and said "what does that have to do with this issue?" I said that it means "you can't have your cake and eat it too --- either you have a genetic disposition toward homosexuality, or you are making a choice each time you enter into the behavior. Only genuine minorities have an unchangeable characteristic which qualifies for government recognition."

I finished up by showing how, if it were not for the efforts of responsible elected representatives like Bill Thompson, 'We the People of the state of Washington' would never have had a choice, but would have had homosexual marriage imposed on us.

Warmest Regards,

Bob Larimer
