Vancouver, WA--Speaking at a press conference in Washington D.C. yesterday, WTV Executive Director Robert R. Larimer Jr. strongly denounced pro-homosexual programs in Washington state's public schools which, under the guise of HIV/AIDS and anti-"bigotry" multicultural education, seek to legitimize and validate high-risk sexual behaviors to impressionable children.
Attending two days of hearings on Capitol Hill by the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations regarding parents, schools, values and the misuse of public funds, Mr. Larimer submitted testimony by Washington state parents who objected to pro-homosexual indoctrination which used taxpayer dollars to damage their children.
Larimer blasted the National Education Association (N.E.A.) for distributing a brazenly deceptive "news statement" at the hearings which proclaimed: "Values education is not about left or right political agendas. It is about right and wrong. And it is about teaching core values that virtually every American recognizes as legitimate, good, even self-evident.
Agreeing that values education should not be politicized, Mr. Larimer questioned the sincerity of the N.E.A.'s statement in light of its recent sponsorship of the October "Lesbian and Gay History Month" in the nation's schools. Larimer challenged: "What motive, other than political, could the N.E.A. possibly have for actively fulfilling specific demands from the 'Platform of the 1993 March on Washington for Lesbian, Gay, and Bi Rights and Liberation'? (Platform Item D from the 'March' states: "We demand full and equal inclusion of Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgendered people in the educational system, and inclusion of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender studies in multicultural curricula).
In a statement today, Mr. Larimer commended the courage and sacrifice of Ms. Claire Connelly of Ventura County, California. Connelly, openly lesbian, presented hard-hitting and irrefutable testimony which shocked both liberals and conservatives on the House Subcommittee. Her remarks centered on the use of federal funds to actually provide places for homosexuals to "cruise" one another and recruit youth.
Ms. Connelly severly damaged the "respectable" facade of promiscuous homosexual activists and showed how they embezzle federal funds. WTV applauds her motivation: that of protecting vulnerable minor children from predatory, promiscuous homosexuals.
Regarding the D.C. hearings, Mr. Larimer stated: "After these two days, the attitudes of lawmakers toward homosexual political special interests will never be the same. Finally, the truth is out. Federal, state and local tax dollars are being used for indoctrination and recruiting by pro-homosexual activists. Subcommitte Chairman Hoekstra has committed to continuing investigations into this matter. This is very good news for the children and families of America."
WTV expresses its profound gratitude to the Reverend Lou Sheldon and Traditional Values Coalition - our national affiliate - for their tireless efforts to correct this fraudulent use of taxpayer's dollars in public education.
