Washington for Traditional Values has been
formed to permit the good sense and values of the citizens of Washington
State to be more equitably represented in public policy, thus countering
any special interests which tend to undermine the general welfare of her
citizenry.
Whereas, the traditional values upon which this nation was founded have
been largely abandoned by her political leadership;
Whereas, the state of Washington was founded with an eye towards those
same values and virtues that are the underpinning of the foundational documents
of this great nation;
Whereas, these values were applied to the construction of those revered
original documents of the United States of America: The Declaration of
Independence and the United States Constitution;
Whereas, the forerunners of the Declaration of Independence and the US
Constitution were, individually and as a body, founded upon those values
and virtues which made our republic great;
Whereas, chief among the traditional values reflected in our foundational
documents are: faith in God, individual freedom, and limited government;
Whereas, recognizing that the document which has become the envy and model
for all nations everywhere because of the freedoms it ensures and the opportunities
it provides was forged from the values of our Founding Fathers;
We, therefore resolve and pledge to strive with all fervor to enlighten
the citizens of our state as to the values of our founding fathers and
to confront the political powers wherever their policies deviate from the
guidelines set out in the constitutions of the federal or state governments,
the spirit of the Founding Fathers or the good sense of the people of Washington
state.
